Decent mower but the reel to bedknife adjustment is the worst design in the industry.

The reel should be fixed and bedknife made to be adjustable like a greensmower.

When I was 11 or 12 I started mowing with my fathers McLane. It seemed like we would buy a new McLane ever 3 or 4 years because they would wear out. A couple times a year the belt would break or the middle wheel would not drop down to propel the mower. I can remember around the guy across the street had a tru-cut and let me use his while the McLane was in the shop. I was amazed how solid the machine was and the quality of cut the power and how easy it was to adjust the HOC . Later that year I bought my first tru-cut 27 10 blade. I mowed my front 3 to 4 times a week during growing season for years without ever going to the shop other than to have it sharpened. In 2011 my neighbor’s house caught on fire which spread to mine and lost the tru –cut in a fire. Built a new house in a different location and told the builder tiff 419 is a must first thing I bought after moving in was another c-27 in 2012 I have only had to adjust the clutch 2 times which I did myself. I don’t know if this is really true or not but someone told me that the c-27 has the same clutch as the VW bug. I will say this it will wear you out before you wear it out
